Hailing from Baltimore, MD, Fiction 20 Down (also known as F20D) delivers refreshingly diverse tunes that are at once upbeat, yet soothing; delightfully melodic yet rocking. Few bands are talented enough to pull of the wide array of styles F20D boasts while building and maintaining their own authentic identity. As lead singer Jordan Lally states on the 2010 track “Play On”, from the Let It Ride EP, “I am movin' and you can’t stop me,” displaying the band’s attitude that this is their music, their destiny, and nothing is gonna stand in their way.
Lead by Jordan Lally’s inspired lyrics and impassioned vocals & rhythm guitar, Justin Berdeguez’s alternately smooth and searing lead guitar, Deejmon’s deep- groovin’ bass, and Andre Toney’s soulful, rock-steady drum work, Fiction 20 Down have come together to forge a truly original union of music that’s rocking live audiences.
In their relatively short history, F20D has displayed their prolific ability to adapt so many styles and sounds of music in to the F20D sound that they come across as a band that has been together for thirteen years instead of three. Critics often try to neatly put them in the reggae-rock bucket, but that leaves out so much behind the fabric of their music. Perhaps Indie Music Review was closest to the target when they said, “(F20D delivers) a delightful, upbeat, soothing rock fusion mix, with elements of hip-hop, reggae and pure rock.”
Three years of existence has yielded three full-length albums and one EP, and now the band knows it’s time to focus on full-scale touring and getting their deep pool of music to the masses. Mindful of the power that dynamic live performance has to build a loyal following, F20D is willing to put their reputation for an incredible live show on the line, confident that once audiences get a taste of an F20D performance they will want more. Their sets are never the same, full of twists, surprises and impromptu jams that keep things refreshing show after show.
F20D have cut their chops playing alongside many renowned acts like EVE 6, Iration, Ballyhoo, Supervillains, Tone Loc and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, and headlining many large events; Orioles opening day at Camden Yards, playing Haiti Relief—The Concert, among others. Their music has also garnered airtime on radio (college, commercial and internet, and satellite) and television.
F20D always emphasizes the importance of giving back, having played benefit concerts for Habitat for Humanity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society, There Goes My Hero Foundation, Music 4 More, and many more.
Stay in touch for exciting touring and recording news and updates out of F20D throughout 2011. They can’t wait to see their current friends and fans and meet many new ones. See you on the road. |
