MISSION: TO REMEDY THE DEPLETION OF PURE FUNK ON THE PLANET Funk Shop recording artists Entropy released their second full-length studio album Crawl on February 24, 2007 to over five-hundred true funk fans in Atlanta, GA. Twelve original compositions aimed to resurrect the pure, uncut funk back into todays culture of music. The music takes the listener through an individuals perspective of striving to find The Funk in today's world, from political/social commentary to changing concepts of love and the war between art and money. Inspired and influenced by James Brown, Parliament/Funkadelic, and Prince, Entropy is determined to bring back the funk into the national spotlight as a genre of its own, as it once was. "Crawl" is the record that will bring it back to the people.
Based out of Atlanta, and influenced by the traditions of James Brown, Parliament/Funkadelic, Prince, Eric B. & Ra Kim, and countless others, Entropy remains dedicated to bringing potent live performances and laying down slick, funky, sultry grooves in the studio. They have shared the stage and collaborated with a wide array of local, regional, and national talent, including George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic, Cyrill Neville, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Kofi Burbridge, Robert Walter's 20th Congress, Vinyl, Carlos Washington & Giant People, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, The Greyhounds, Big Fuzz, DJ le Spam & the Spam Allstars, Ulu, Yonrico Scott Band, Jeff Sipe, DJ ..5, Squat, and Genetic.
History:
Over the past few years Entropy's fanbase has been exponentially. Touring extensively in the southeast since 2003 the band has built a formidable reputation in its existing markets for "the blistering energy of the live show" and their true funk sound. In '04 and '05 they spread the funk to Tenessee, Alabama, Florida, the Carolinas, and New Orleans (Jazz Fest '04 and '05) to packed dance floors of party people shakin' it all night long. Crowd response was enthusiastic to say the least, the people seemed almost starved for the funk.Entropy took it upon themselves to satisfy the fans' appetites by playing over 250 shows in '04 and '05, building a strong following everywhere they went. This funk frenzy was in support of their debut studio album, LIVE+REBEL+FUNK+LOVE, released in September 2004. Entropy has been recognized as an emerging funk-force to be reckoned with, illustrated by the 2002 Flagpole Award for Best Soul/Funk Band (Athens, GA) and in 2006 for Creative Loafing's "Best R&B/Soul/Funk Act-Reader's Pick" (Atlanta, GA) . Their second full length "Crawl" has received rave reviews all over the country, and is being played by funk DJ's all over the world. |
